Update: Given the recent political change in the US, my home, my country, it is no longer safe here for me and my partner. The situation here is rapidly declining, our rights are disintegrating fast and for the first time in my life through transition I am truly scared of the worst case scenario for the future. Unfortunately our only option in the next few years may be to leave the country, for this reason I’ve decided to raise our goal to 5000k to help get us out of danger.

Update: It’s a new year and much has changed in my life since I first created this fund. I’m living in a new place, I have a job that covers mine and my gf’s most basic costs we have support for many of the other things.

We’re moving on from the struggles of the past year, though progress is slow and daunting at this rate. There have been many setbacks setbacks associated with moving and the need for emergency dental care. My brakes are still an issue that make getting to and from work difficult sometimes, but the cold weather is affording me some time while I save up the money to fix them.

Fortunately our rent is much lower now, though in spite of my recent income I can still not afford all of it on my own. I’ve decided to raise the goal by $1000 this time. This amount if met would allow us to fix our vehicle, our teeth, and still have rent covered.

Early last July me and my partner where targeted at our place of work by a male coworker who viciously attacked me. The attack left me scarred and left us with a lengthy court process and without the means to support ourselves in the mean time. We've been seeking new employment outside of the city since then to escape such violence and still continue supporting ourselves inspite of the sudden loss of income. Since September me and my partner have been commuting and working roughly 20 miles from our home. Because of this, reliable personal transportation is now vital to our livelihood and our safety.

We rely on the same vehicle to travel to and from work but due to an ongoing problem with my vehicle's front brakes which has persisted since before August we are now left without vital transportation. Getting back on the road is essential for us toward improving our living situation and without a roadworthy vehicle we lose the ability to work and move outside of the city as we have planned.

Due to a persistent brake malfunction, we've been grinding through brake pads on the front left brake caliper which are now reduced to bare metal contact. We do not have the parts nor the facilities to properly fix this problem ourselves so we must take it to a professional to fix it properly.

This has already been a very costly and stressful problem for us to deal with so far and the potential of breaking down on the side of the highway or in the city puts us both at great risk. To really fix this problem we will need to cover the costs of parts and labor through a professional shop. This will likely cost us at least $500 that we do not currently have. Though I do expect to cover much of the costs on my own, donating to us will help us achieve this much sooner with much less risk to our livelihood and our safety.
