I have been raising my niece for the past ten years, and she means the world to me. Over the last three years, I’ve suffered a couple of accidents that left me unable to work and relying on workman's comp. Despite these challenges, we recently moved into our own apartment, which was a big step for us. After someone rear-ended us in November and my car was totaled, I had to finance a new car. Unfortunately, the insurance payout wasn’t enough, so now I’m facing a large car payment, rent, insurance, and braces for my niece—all due soon.
My only income had been workman's comp until last week. My check started arriving late, and after many calls to my lawyers, I learned that there’s no check coming because paperwork wasn’t filed in time. Now, I have no way to pay my bills except by doing DoorDash and GrubHub orders, which is tough on me physically due to my injuries and puts extra wear on my car. I’m worried about losing my car and getting evicted if I can’t cover these major expenses in the next few days.
The funds raised will help me pay our monthly costs for rent, car payment, insurance, and braces for my niece. I am reaching out to my friends, family, and community for support during this difficult time. Any help you can provide will make a huge difference for us and help us stay on our feet.
