My mom is 81 years old and has always worked hard to support our family here in Wantagh. On April 6th, she suffered a serious fall at work, breaking her wrist and forearm and fracturing her pelvic bone. She needed surgery, including four pins, and spent three weeks in the hospital. Now she is in rehab at Massapequa Cares and Rehab, unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.

This is a compensation case, but unfortunately, the insurance company has denied all benefits. Our family is facing a tough time. I am disabled, as is one of my sons, and my other son is the only one able to work. Unfortunately, his income is not enough to cover our rent and living expenses. My mom’s injury has made it impossible for her to help with the bills, and we are falling behind. Our landlord has been somewhat understanding, but we know this is a business, and we are at risk of eviction.

This community means everything to us, especially for my autistic son who relies on the stability and support here. We are reaching out for help so we can stay in our home while my mom recovers.
