My name is Patricia, and I am humbly asking for help during one of the hardest and most critical moments of my life.
I lost my job in October 2025 and have had zero income since then. I was hired as a 1099 independent contractor for only a few weeks before being terminated, which means I do not qualify for unemployment benefits. Despite actively searching, I have struggled to find stability—especially after being wrongfully terminated from Amazon in 2022. I have been doing everything I can to stay afloat, but I am now at risk of losing my home right when my son needs me the most.
My Son’s Story
My adult son suffered a stroke at just 25 years old in 2014. During that hospitalization, he was diagnosed with several severe and lifelong medical conditions, including:
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
CADASIL (Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy)
Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC)
These conditions have progressed greatly.
My son went from walking to now being wheelchair-bound, with significant loss of other bodily functions. He will require 24-hour care for the rest of his life—and I am fully prepared and eager to be that caregiver for him.
I have gone through orientation to become his official IHSS provider. However, Kern County has told me that funding will not be available for some time, meaning I will receive no income for providing the full-time care he desperately needs—at least not right away.
Why We Need Help
I am frugal and can live on very little, but right now I have no income and cannot risk becoming homeless, especially with my medically fragile son needing my care.
I am asking for $2,250 per month for 12 months, which comes to a total of $27,000—just enough to cover:
Rent
Utilities
Basic living costs while I care for my son full-time
This will allow us to keep a stable home until IHSS funding becomes available for my son, at which point I will finally be paid as his caregiver.
How Your Support Helps
Your donation—no matter the amount—will help us:
✔ Stay housed
✔ Remain safe
✔ Prepare the home for my son’s medical needs
✔ Bridge the gap until county funding begins
✔ Give my son the care, dignity, and stability he deserves
You are not just helping us survive—you are helping a mother provide her son with the full-time care he needs.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading our story, sharing it, or donating. Your kindness truly means more than I can express.
