This is very hard for us to share, but we are facing a housing emergency and have run out of options.

Our household income changed suddenly after a job loss, and although Scott is working part-time, it isn’t enough to catch us up in time. Amanda is in the process of applying for unemployment again, but approval isn’t guaranteed and benefits wouldn’t arrive soon enough to stop the immediate crisis.

Over the past few months, we’ve done our best to juggle bills and stay afloat. At times, we had to delay certain payments just to keep the most urgent ones covered. That balancing act has now caught up with us. We’re at the point where everything is due at once, and we’re having to make impossible choices about what to pay first. Because of that, we are now at risk of losing both our housing and our vehicle, which we rely on to keep working.

We have always paid our rent on time in the past and never imagined being in this position. We’ve applied for rental assistance and grants, reached out to family, looked into loans and credit options, and even tried accessing retirement funds. Unfortunately, none of these solutions have come through in time.

Right now, we have urgent rent deadlines on February 6th and February 8th. If we can’t make payments, additional fees and eviction proceedings may begin. Our goal is to raise $7,500 to cover past-due rent, upcoming rent, and essential bills like our car and phone so we can remain housed and continue working toward stability.

We are actively doing everything we can to improve our situation. This is a temporary setback, not a long-term circumstance — but we cannot bridge this gap alone, and time is critical.
