help us stay close to our baby
Weston was born July 12th at 36.6 weeks via emergency c section. I went in for a non stress test because he wasn’t very active and within 20 min of getting there getting hooked up and such they were telling me I was having a c section now! Westons heart rate was 180 and flat lined meaning something was not right. Within minutes I was knocked out and Weston was born. I don’t remember much after this because I was waking up from anesthesia. They said Weston had a true knot in his umbilical cord and also we had a placental abruption. Weston was trying to breathe but couldn’t so they intebated and sent him to UVA almost 2 hours away from me to do a cooling process to hopefully stop any further brain damage. Igot discharged two days later. We later found out our baby boy was extremely sick. His brain activity was almost nothing. He has what they call Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) which is a type of brain dysfunction that occurs when the brain doesn't receive enough oxygen or blood flow for a period of time. Hypoxic means not enough oxygen; ischemic means not enough blood flow; and encephalopathy means brain disorder. Right now he can’t suck, swallow, cough, sneeze etc. he also has no muscle tone or reflex he is kinda just floppy. He also doesn’t move or open his eyes. But he is breathing of the ventilator which isHUGE! We have full faith in whatever his story holds. We are doing this go fund me to raise money to stay close to Weston due to us living so far away. Hotels food and gas adds up quick. We appreciate everything that everyone has done and so appreciate the thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that they are working. Our baby is so sick and I can’t imagine being far away from him.
