Hi, my name is Ilay, I'm 35 years old, married to Oranit, and father to Yoav (5) and Yuli (2).

Since October 7th, I’ve served over 350 days in active reserve duty as a Major, leading a special forces unit. This mission has defined the past two years of my life — an intense and meaningful calling, but one that’s come with deep personal and financial costs.

While I’ve been torn between military duty, work, and family, we’ve also been dealing with the collapse of a family business that left us in financial ruin. As part of the bankruptcy process that I’ve been going through, we lost our only home — the one place we built for our children and envisioned as our safe haven.

We are doing our best to start over — but just as we were trying to stabilize, another legal blow hit us: in a separate proceeding related to the failed business, our household was ordered to pay ₪80,000 (approx. \$24,000 USD). This amount was not included in my bankruptcy case and was issued directly against my wife, Oranit, for her share of our house

Ornit has held our family together with unimaginable strength. While I’ve been deep in combat zones, she’s been raising two small children and running a seasonal business entirely on her own. But this financial hit is simply beyond her ability to manage. Debt collection proceedings have now begun against her — and that threatens to freeze and seize the only reliable income our family has left.

We are committed to moving forward with dignity and rebuilding what we’ve lost — but we can’t do it without help.
