A few months ago, our lives changed in a way we never could have expected. Our roommate Marc passed away suddenly, and we were the ones who had to step into the aftermath. I was the one who discovered him.
In the weeks that followed, my roommate Doug and I did everything we could to handle the situation with respect. Clearing out Marc’s belongings, coordinating with management, and trying to process something that honestly still doesn’t feel real.
At the same time, we’ve been struggling to stay afloat financially. Marc covered a portion of the rent and bills, and without him, that burden has fallen entirely on the two of us. While we’re actively trying to find a new roommate, it takes time and in the meantime, the costs haven’t stopped. Recently, our property management added an unexpected biohazard cleanup charge to our account. We’re currently disputing it, but it’s added even more uncertainty and stress to an already overwhelming situation.
We’re asking for help to stay afloat during this transition. Funds raised will go directly toward:
- Covering Marc’s portion of rent while we search for a new roommate
- Paying essential bills so we can stay current and avoid falling behind
- Addressing or disputing the cleanup fee if necessary
- Basic living stability while we recover from this situation
This isn’t something we ever imagined asking for, but we’re doing our best to move forward responsibly and respectfully. If you’re able to contribute or share, it would mean more than we can express. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
