For the past year, my wife and I have faced the unimaginable challenge of homelessness after the city condemned our very first apartment together. We had just started building our life as a couple, and losing our home so suddenly left us with nowhere to turn. On top of this, we both live with significant mental health challenges—I am legally blind and live with schizoaffective and bipolar disorder, while my wife is schizophrenic and autistic. Despite these obstacles, we’ve done everything we can to find stability and keep moving forward.

Recently, we managed to get a van as our last hope—a way to move to California and finally start fresh. This van represents our chance at a new beginning, but we’re at a crossroads: without insurance, we can’t make the move or keep ourselves safe on the road. The funds raised here will go directly toward securing auto insurance for our van and covering our basic living expenses while I search for work in California. I already have job opportunities lined up, and with just a little help, we can finally move forward and rebuild our lives. We’re not just doing this for ourselves, but also for our two baby kittens who depend on us for safety and care.
