Help Us Start Our Home Together!

Hello!

We're Chris & Jolee, a couple currently separated by the Atlantic Ocean! We decided that we were not okay with living six time zones away from each other any longer, and we're ready to travel down the path of life together, hand-in-hand. It turns out that even with both of us working, we need a little help with funds. We're both very independent folks who hate asking for help... but we need it now.

Chris will be moving from the United Kingdom to the United States to make a new home here with me here in the Midwest. The first (very lengthy) step is getting his K-1 visa secured. After he can arrive legally and we get married, we'll be applying for an Adjustment of Status for him to stay here permanently.

For the Visa applications, biometrics, and his compulsory medical exam, we're looking at $2100 alone. That may not sound like much, but we're already tightly budgeting our lives. That's not including petrol (gasoline) for getting to interviews, postage for sending paperwork internationally, or other variables.

We also have our wedding to plan, rings to buy, a good friends' wedding to attend this summer in the UK, a plane ticket to get Chris and his two fantastic rabbits here when the K-1 is approved, and funds for shipping his (much reduced) belongings here to me.

Currently, I'm putting the goal at $2500 USD to account for any variables, ordering of certified paperwork, and additional postage if we get requests for more information from the US Department of Immigration. Once we have a handle on the other expenses (flight, packing, shipping), we'll likely adjust the goal.
