Help Us Start Our Family: Our IVF Journey

Donation protected
Update: June 2025

First, thank you. We are extremely appreciative of the support, love, and selfless acts of generosity we have received from friends, family, and even total strangers. Your wonderful messages, words of encouragement, and donations have helps us through what has undeniably been the hardest part of our lives.

Since we last shared our story, we have undergone 4 separate rounds of egg retrievals using IVF medications. They were exhausting in every way - physically, emotionally, and financially. Unfortunately in the end, we were able to do only one egg transfer procedure, which did not work. Despite the hope and heartbreak in each cycle, we still aren’t ready to give up.

Unfortunately, we’ve now reached the lifetime maximum fertility coverage under our current insurance plan. From this point forward, any future IVF treatments will be entirely out-of-pocket.

Our doctors believe we may have up to two more viable IVF attempts before it will no longer be safe or medically advised to continue. As such, we are hoping to proceed with two more cycles, which gives us our best remaining chance at having a biological child.

There is a cost savings if we pay for both cycles upfront—something that is financially out of reach for us on a teacher's salary and with Justin still in law school. That’s why we are again humbly asking for help.

This is not the update we had hoped to write. But we are still trying to be hopeful and optimistic, and we are still fighting for our dream of becoming parents. Any contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. Even just sharing this link and our story with others means a lot to us, so please feel free to share our GoFundMe link with your friends, family, and peers.

With love and gratitude,
Kassie and Justin

Justin and I have always dreamed of being parents. We've been together since we were 16, and we've imagined ourselves raising kids together for the majority of that time. As many of you know, Justin and I have been struggling with infertility for over two years now. It has genuinely been the hardest thing we have ever gone through. It has affected us in every way imaginable- physically, emotionally, and financially. We have gone through many different treatments on this journey so far, and sadly none of them have worked.

In January, we will start IVF which is essentially our last chance at having biological children. We are nervous and excited and about a million other emotions. IVF is expensive. I am extremely grateful that the insurance through my new job has fertility coverage (we were paying for everything out of pocket until now). However, insurance does not cover the entire cost, nor does it cover most of the medications I will have to take. That is where all of you come in! With Justin not working while in law school and me making a teacher's salary, this is a massive strain on our finances, so we are humbly asking for help. We sincerely appreciate all of the love and support as we try to start our family.

With love and gratitude,
Kassie and Justin
