Help Sophia and Felix Stay Pregnant
Donation protected
“It was just bad luck. Keep trying.” Those words cut deep the first time Felix and I miscarried. We heard those exact words another four times in 3.5 years. Five consecutive, gut-wrenching miscarriages with no living children and I turn 40 in April. The reality of never having children was staring at us in the face. But where do you go when you can get pregnant but not stay pregnant? IVF clinics employ doctors specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology. They are very good at helping couples get pregnant. As it turns out, the type of doctor we need is a Reproductive Immunologist. I found this out by joining several Facebook groups with women in very similar situations as my own. Unfortunately, there are only 5 Reproductive Immunologists in the United States, and none of them are in Texas. After doing even more research, I reached out to the Alan Beer Center in California. I called them in late August and was put on a 4-month waitlist. Just before Thanksgiving, my turn was up! A LOT of bloodwork was ordered, and I was tested for many different gene mutations and autoimmune issues. We finally had our consult last week, and we were both taken back by the number of problems that my results reflected. The specialist told us that despite the cards being genetically stacked against me, we had a 70% chance of having a baby if we followed the protocol. If we followed none of it, a measly 10% chance. Sadly, some of the medications are covered by insurance, but the most expensive and effective part of the protocol is not.
So, my husband and I are here begging you for kindness and compassion. If you can spare anything, it will mean the world to us. Please help us get that much closer to bringing our Rainbow home.
