Dear Family and Friends,
I am sharing with you about a mission opportunity with Youth for Christ of Kern County to Ireland this summer. My daughter, Kayla, and I will be traveling together to serve others and share our story.
My Story:
I first became involved with Youth for Christ in 2009 when I became pregnant with my daughter, Kayla, at the age of 16. I was invited to an event, and while I knew God existed, it wasn’t until I participated in the Teen Parents Program through Youth for Christ that I realized I could have a personal relationship with Him. The seed was planted and nurtured through monthly events such as Bible studies, winter camps, and mentorship. Today, I am a strong believer in Jesus Christ and have witnessed His faithfulness throughout my life. I have seen the harvest firsthand, including my daughter making the decision to be baptized and worship God. God truly transformed what was a very difficult situation at such a young age. When others said, “My life was over because I became a young parent,” God said:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
Ireland Mission Trip | June 23 – July 5
During this trip, we will be working with Northern Ireland Youth for Christ to host a drop-in center at a youth festival. Youth groups from all over Northern Ireland will gather for four days of tent camping in a large open field. The festival includes activities such as sports, crafts, concerts, and dancing, with a strong emphasis on Bible teaching and worship.
Last year, the festival welcomed 2,500 youth at the drop-in center. The drop-in center provides an alternative space for worship and teaching, as well as a welcoming place for games, crafts, music, and connection.
