Help Us Share Mayan-Mam Stories in Spanish
Donation protected
I am Javier Armas, Oakland born historian. At Skyline High I met several Guatemalan Mayan-Mam students. As I taught on Mayan mathematics, many of the Mam students wanted to know more about their history. So we started a research group and ended up writing a book “Mam History: Oakland Notes on the History of Mayan-Mam Language.” It has sold over 500 copies, won an award and has really positive reviews. We are working hard to release the Spanish version and need a little help with production costs. We are going to have book releases at Fremont High and Oakland High. KCBS covered the book here.
