Hi, my name is Tim, an English teacher from Rochester, New York. I have been working for six years since I was kidnapped in Morocco (story here: https://x.com/Ame0baRepublic/status/1167456566045548545) to get residency in Spain and recently ... I did it!

My cat Eris & I have survived the bureaucracy, the headaches, bad landlords, & so much time without the right to work (well, mostly me, she's not so big on work) because of the amazing generosity of those around us.

Now that we "won," I am fundraising to cover a host of other costs like taxes, Social Security, lawyers, & still managing to keep a roof above my head. I want to get started on the right foot because I know we can make the best of our new home.

It wasn't easy & the road ahead is still long, but I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by love & people who believe in me, be they online or in-person friends.

I can't bear to see the opportunity wasted now that the future looks so bright, so I speak for both of us when I say any amount you can contribute would mean the world!
