Owned by Toyosi and her husband Cornelius, the restaurant isn’t merely a place to eat—it is a place where stories are shared, laughter resounds, and memories of authentic Nigerian food are evident.

Toyosi grew up watching her mother cook in a small kitchen, where recipes were passed down through generations. When she and Cornelius opened Toyosi Kitchen four years ago, they aimed to create more than just a business. They dreamed of establishing a space where people from all walks of life could come together, enjoy a warm meal, and feel at home. Their dishes, inspired by their cultural roots, quickly won the love of the community.

Like many small businesses, Toyosi Kitchen faces some unexpected challenges. Rising costs of ingredients and utilities made it difficult to keep things running smoothly. Toyosi and Cornelius have invested their savings to sustain the restaurant, but now they are at a crossroads.

This restaurant is a part of who we are,” Toyosi shares with heartfelt emotion. “It’s about more than just food—it’s about creating memories together.”

To keep their dream alive, Toyosi and Cornelius are reaching out to their community and beyond by launching a fundraising campaign titled “Help Us Serve the Community More: Please Support Our Vision.” They aim to raise sufficient funds to cover essential expenses, upgrade kitchen equipment, redecorate the lounge area, purchase tea and coffee machines, integrate modern technology to better serve our community, and invest in marketing efforts to attract more customers.

“Every pound helps,” Cornelius adds. “It’s not just about keeping the doors open. It’s about ensuring that our space continues to be a home for everyone who walks through those doors.”

Through their campaign, Toyosi and Cornelius aim to sustain Toyosi Kitchen and expand its vision by introducing cooking classes, hosting community events, and continuing to support various charity organisations just as they do now.

“We truly believe that food has the power to bring people together,” Toyosi says with a hopeful smile. “And with a little help, we can continue sharing that joy with everyone in our community.”
