It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Nelly Wangaja Tshiteya at the tender age of 54, two weeks after Her birthday, on September 6th, 2021.

Nelly was the proud oldest child of Dr. Rene M. & Rose K. Tshiteya and fierce protector of Her siblings Mireille, Joseph, Jean-Paul, Rene-Claude and Her “baby brother” Yannick…and “Auntie Nelly” to Jolearra, Priyah, Rene, Joseph Jr., Nicole, Christian, Joshua & Justice Tshiteya.

Nelly was also a big sister, friend, & confidante to countless people near & far. But her most profound relationship was with her parents. She became a live-in caretaker for her aging retired parents, in a sense becoming the parent of parents. As imagined, at their advanced age, this has brought immeasurable pain to them, especially for Rose, who at 19 years older was not only her mother but best friend.

It is with sincere humbleness, that in this moment of inexplicable loss that we ask for any assistance with this completely unexpected loss. Nothing is too small, as this fund is to aid in the funeral arrangements but, more importantly, to aid in the move and care of her parents who lived and were dependent on her being with us.

We, as a family, ask in love. Do not ache if you are unable…do not ache if you “feel it is not enough” or “wish you could do more”…it does not change our love and appreciation in this painful moment.
