To our family, our friends, our neighbors, fellow thespians, and even strangers: We need you!
HUGE NEWS: This year our very own Forest Grove Thespians Troupe #5712 qualified for the International Thespian Festival! Who would have thought that a bunch of teenagers from a small town in Oregon would have accomplished so much? Not only did they qualify in one category; they qualified in THREE! Student directors Alickina Bell and Caspian Bernhardt, along with the cast and crew, qualified with their hard-hitting One-Act “Lockdown” by Douglas Craven. Along with that, two of their members qualified with their own pieces: Jazper Jungling with their Makeup Design for “Cabaret” and Emily Shivley with her original Short Film “The Making of Governors Ball 2”.
This is potentially a once-in a lifetime opportunity for many of our kids!
The achievements of this troupe are massive! Before attending State, the troupe thought that attending internationals was an impossible dream. Whether they qualified or not, the cost was simply out of their reach. How would a bunch of teenagers ever be able to make the International Thespian Festival a reality? They put it out of their minds.
However, after qualifying, the gravity of the opportunity set in. Their dreams were right at the tips of their fingers. The dream was now transforming into a reality. They are determined more than ever to represent Oregon in Indiana this summer.
Here’s where you come in!
The kids need to raise around $25,000 by June 19th. They will be bringing 10 students and 2 chaperones. Each of the participants' cost to attend the festival is approximately $1500 dollars per student, approximately $1100 per chaperone. This price includes all access to the festival, educational workshops, world-class performances, college auditions, competitions, lodging, and food. Airfare from PDX to IND is an average of $450 per traveller during June. With the help of our community, we truly believe we can help these kids accomplish something that would make a dream that they once thought was impossible, a reality.
If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this link because any contribution, big or small, will help out immensely.
It is said that theatre has the power to change lives. Your support will no doubt positively change these students’ lives immeasurably!
Thank you so much for your support!
