This isn’t part of a big organization. It’s not corporate. It’s real people doing what they can with what they have — and asking for a little help to do more.
The rural community of Frome in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica was hit hard by the recent storm.
Homes were damaged, roads washed out, and families — many of them in farming or working-class communities — are now struggling to survive. Access to basic needs like food, clean clothing, soap, and sanitary products has become a daily challenge. With a population of just under 1,000, it’s the kind of tight-knit community where everyone knows each other — and where support doesn’t always reach quickly.
In places like Frome, relief often comes not from large organizations, but from grassroots efforts — neighbors helping neighbors.
How You Can Help
100% Of your donation goes directly toward:
* Filling the barrels with quality supplies
* Shipping & customs-related costs
* Supporting local volunteers who are doing the legwork to get items into the right hands
Donation What It Covers
$20 Essentials for 1 Child
$50 Essentials for 2 People
$100 Feed 1 family
$250 Essentials and food for a family
In the midst of all this, what’s been the most inspiring is watching everyday people show up for each other.
My own family — survivors of the storm themselves — have been doing everything they can. Out of their own pockets, they’ve been buying food, collecting clothing, and driving back and forth across muddy roads and blocked streets to reach families in Frome and nearby towns.
They’re not alone. Across the island, everyday people are doing whatever they can — even with limited resources — to help others. This effort is about supporting them, multiplying their impact, and helping them go further.
That’s what this effort is about: people helping people. Grassroots, personal, and full of heart.
What We’re Doing
We’re preparing to send barrels from Los Angeles to Jamaica before December (while customs fees are waived). These will be received and hand-delivered by our family and community partners already doing this work on the ground.
We’re hoping to support at least 100 families with essentials:
* Clothing for children and caregivers
* Hygiene and feminine care kits
* Non-perishable food
* Small cash support for gas and transportation to reach families
Whether you can donate, share, or just spread the word, thank you for being part of this with us. Every single act of support makes a difference.
With love and gratitude,
Julicia
