On Wednesday March 27th, the world that I know completely stopped. My husbands best friend Curt, died suddenly & tragically in our home. Shock, disbelief, heartbreak & numbness do not even begin to describe what we are feeling.
Curt was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. He was caring, compassionate, successful, driven, stubborn, a lover of all things outdoors. But mostly, he was a father who loved his daughter more than anything in this world.
Sadly as most of us know, when someone dies, there is a mountain of things to deal with & figure out. But one thing that a lot of us have never dealt with, & I hope none of you ever have to, is an extremely sudden death. The unanswered questions, trying to figure out & get all of their affairs in order & doing what you think they would want to respect their wishes. It’s one of the most overwhelming & emotionally draining things we have ever dealt with. But we are doing our best to help alleviate the stress this is putting on his parents, & are more than happy to do so.
Unfortunately one thing that has been the hardest to accept, is the financial uncertainty for his daughter. When curt died, he left behind a 7 year old daughter. His ex wife, Cindy is now not only a single mother, but she is also the sole provider for Sayla. Due to the circumstances of his death, there may not be any life insurance payout & that thought alone is devastating. Can you imagine, your child not only losing their father, but also the financial help he provided? I sure can’t!
That being said, I have decided to set up this fundraiser to help with Sayla’s future from this day on. Curt’s family did not ask me to do this, & Cindy, the mother of their daughter did not ask me to do this. I am doing it because I hope that if ever myself, my husband or my daughter were in this situation, someone would step up to help us in any way possible!
Curt left behing many things, and a large group of friends that loved, cared for & supported him is one of those things. Now, I ask that anyone who has taken the time to read this far, & understands the sadness & complications of this situation, please find it in your heart to help me make my goal possible!
This entire situation has been heartbreaking & completely devastating to the many people involved. If we can all get together, and help ease some of the stress, it would mean the world to me & hopefully to his daughter. It will never replace or bring her father back, but I pray it will help her move on through life the way a child should be able to.
