Support for the family of Thomas ‘Hogan’ Haas
Donation protected
On May 29th 2024, our uncle, Thomas A. ‘Hogan’ Haas, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.
As stated, his death was quite a shock and totally unanticipated. We are asking for donations to help Hogan’s family with his end of life expenses they were not and are not prepared to cover.
Donations will be used to help enable them to pay for the following:
We are grateful for family, and friends who are like family. Their support in this time is appreciated more than they will ever know.
Thank you all for the messages of sympathy you have sent us regarding the very sudden and quite tragic death of T. Hogan Haas. We appreciate all your kind words, offers of help, stories shared, and prayers sent up for our family as we wrap our minds around this unanticipated loss.
Many of you have asked how you can help our family during this difficult time. Instead of sending flowers, we ask that you donate to this fundraiser in memory of Hogan. Whether or not you are able to donate funds, please consider sharing the link for this effort with others.
We appreciate your support so very much! From the bottoms of our hearts, THANK YOU!
About Hogan:
Hogan served as the Executive Director of the Huntington Symphony Orchestra for 13 years before retiring in 2021. Hogan loved music in all of its forms. Haas was named recipient of The Herald-Dispatch Award for the Arts in 2018 as part of the newspaper's Citizen Awards program for his work done with the HSO. He felt privileged to have the opportunity to help ensure the stability and success of the HSO as they provided the community with culture, smiles, memories, and music.
Hogan was a member of the Ironton High School Class of 1973. He received his undergraduate degree from Berea College, and he completed his Master’s Degree at The University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Hogan enjoyed gardening, volunteering with various efforts in the community, he was a dog lover (especially Great Danes), and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help.
Hogan is preceded in death by his parents, Franklyn M. Haas and Delores (Bayliss) Hass, and his brother, John F. Haas. He leaves behind a sister, Kathy (Haas) McGinnis of Ironton. He also leaves behind a niece, Katlyn (McGinnis) Barcroft (husb. Kyle) of Hilliard, and a nephew, Derek ‘Bo’ McGinnis of Wellston. He also leaves behind several great nieces and nephews.
As stated, his death was quite a shock and totally unanticipated. We are asking for donations to help Hogan’s family with his end of life expenses they were not and are not prepared to cover.
Donations will be used to help enable them to pay for the following:
- funeral home charges
- cremation fee
- urn purchase
- assumed vehicle loans
- housing assistance needed in his absence
- unanticipated cost of living increase for his sister (Kathy, while she works through a residency relocation due to financial strain)

- travel costs to scatter Hogan’s ashes
- attorney fees
- and more
