Help Us Say Goodbye to Our Beloved Funke Oyebanjo

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Anuoluwapo Olufunke Oyebanjo, affectionately known as Funke, who left us on Thursday, 7 August 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 58 years old.

Funke was a devoted mother, an accomplished writer, an inspiring senior lecturer, and a passionate film enthusiast. She was known for her warmth, wisdom, and ability to make everyone she met feel valued. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of her family, friends, colleagues, and students.

This loss is felt most deeply by her only daughter, Tomi, who lovingly cared for her mother over the past several years. Tomi now faces the overwhelming task of arranging her mother’s funeral - a burden no one should have to carry alone, especially when their closest family member is the one they’ve lost.

We are raising funds to help cover the funeral expenses, including the burial, plot of land (costing around £4k alone) floral arrangements, and other essential costs. Your generosity will help us give Funke the dignified farewell she deserves and provide comfort to Tomi during this incredibly difficult time.
