Barker is the heart and light of our family. At 15 years old, he has filled our lives with love and joy every single day. We rescued him from an abusive shelter thirteen years ago, not knowing he was deaf until after we brought him home. Despite everything he’s been through, Barker has always been there for us. When my mom had a seizure, he instinctively protected her, even though he’d never been trained to do so. Whenever I was sick, he would lay by my side, offering comfort and love. He’s been with me since I was twelve, through every high and low, including the loss of my grandfather. We named him Barker because, ironically, he never barked. He truly is the pride and joy of our little family.
Recently, Barker developed a tumor on his neck. It grew so large it looked like he had a muscle there, and we soon learned it was cancer that had spread throughout his body. Making the decision to say goodbye is heartbreaking, but we know it’s the kindest thing we can do for him now. Unfortunately, we can’t afford the costs of putting him to sleep, especially since we can barely afford most things Still, I would do anything for my boy, and I want to make sure his last moments are peaceful and full of love.
If you donate anything, words can’t describe how thankful I am. Barker has been the best dog anyone could ask for, and your support would mean the universe to us. Thank you for helping us give him the gentle goodbye he deserves.
