Help Us Save My Daughter’s Bunny, Waddles
Hello everyone,
I’m a father asking for help to save my daughter’s beloved free roam bunny, Waddles. To some, a small pet might not seem significant, but to my daughter, Waddles is her best friend, her comfort, and a huge part of our family.
On Christmas Eve, while playing with Waddles, she noticed a lump on the underside the bunny's chest.
As soon as we could, we brought her to a vet that treats small animals. They told us she needs blood work, x‑rays, and surgery as soon as possible. The lump was growing quickly, and small ruptures have already started forming on the surface. Without treatment, she won't make it much longer.
I want to explain why we’re asking for help.
Until recently, we were a single income family of four. I worked as a government employee for 17 years. Last winter, during an emergency surgery, I suffered a complication that changed everything. Since then, I’ve been dealing with mild cognitive decline, short‑term memory loss, focal epilepsy, and loss of fine motor skills. I’ve been out of work and on leave without pay while waiting for HR to determine my future, a process that has dragged on for months due to backlogs and shutdowns.
We’re now on the verge of losing our health insurance and the home we raised our daughters in as bills pile up. I never thought it would come to this, and I don’t want this fundraiser to be about me. I only want to show why I’m desperate to do something for my daughter during a year that has already taken so much from her.
She would never blame me for any of this, but I still feel like I’m failing her. My health may be declining, and I can’t give my family the stability I once did, but I can’t look my daughter in the eyes and tell her I can’t try to save her best friend.
I may not be able to fix everything in our lives right now, but I can try to save Waddles while I still can. That’s why I’m asking for help.
Any money raised will be used to pay for the lifesaving surgical operation (under the suggested guidance of a professional exotic animal veterinarian) of Waddles our best friend and bunny.
Any support, donations or simply sharing this would mean more to us than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story
