Help Us Save Usha - Found in Critical Condition
Donation protected
Our sweet cat Usha snuck out of the house on February 14th, and we spent the past two weeks desperately trying to find her. So many amazing people stepped up to help us on our search for Usha, and yesterday, February 28th, we finally located her and successfully trapped her at 6:30 AM this morning and brought her home.
Unfortunately, we did not find her in the best condition. We took her to the vet first thing in the morning, and we were told she was severely dehydrated, her weight had dropped to just 5 lbs, and she had a nasty respiratory infection. They put her on antibiotics, and we took her home, but by midday, she was noticeably taking a turn for the worse, so we rushed her to the emergency vet. We have now found out she has sepsis, low blood pressure, and an enlarged liver. She will be spending at least the next 48 hours at the emergency vet so they can try and save her. She is not quite in stable condition yet, but they said it is very possible for her to survive this with the right care, so we have asked that they do everything they can.
This is going to be pretty costly; the lowest we’re expecting is over $7000, but it could be much more depending on how she responds to the current treatment she’s receiving. I will update the goal as we get more information, but for now, I can only go off our best estimate. We are doing everything we can to try to get her through this, but it’s a very unexpected expense, so I wanted to create this GoFundMe to help my family manage the cost. Thank you so much to everyone that helped us spread the word about Usha so we could find her. Please help us continue to share Usha’s story! Anything helps, even if all you can do is share this link. We are endlessly grateful for any and all support for Usha! ❤️
