Hello!

We are Phee and Darius, two scientists from the UK. Recently, we went on what was supposed to be a relaxing break in Crete and instead spent the week running around after two local kittens. From the moment we arrived, they didn't leave our side and, with ample treats, went from skinny to well-fed in one week. They slept on our laps every night, and never showed a sign of their tough first few months of life. After speaking to the few, but amazing, locals who dedicate their lives to cats, we learned the heartbreaking reality of cats in Crete- the majority starve or are poisoned over winter when tourist season is over, and those who survive are certainly not the small, trusting kittens.

After some pleading with Darius (helped greatly by the two purring fur balls!) we have decided to attempt to save these two babies and at least prevent two kittens suffering horribly this winter. We managed to get them to an incredible foster home, and are trying to transport them to Calais, where we will pick them up.

However, as a junior scientist and a PhD student, we are pretty limited in how much we can afford for our boys. As an idea of how much these things can cost:

-Foster £155 per month

-Flights up to £450 per cat

-Vaccines, neuter and other vet treatment £100+ per cat

-Petrol from north east to Calais £90

-Eurotunnel £145+

While we are prepared and planning to go without for a few months for the sake of these cats, it's been mentioned a few times by family and friends that others may be willing to pitch in to save these little fellows and get them to a home where they would be spoiled rotten for the rest of their days.
