Help Us Save Tippy & Promote Coyote Awareness

Asking friends, family, and animal lovers for help and support during this difficult time.

Last night, our sweet 4-year-old Chihuahua, Tippy, escaped from the fence in our front yard while we were outside with the dogs. After searching for him, he was found nearby in the woods beside our house, and had been viciously attacked by a large animal, we are nearly certain it was a wild coyote. The coyote was strong enough to bite across Tippy' s back leaving teeth marks and puncture wounds on both of his sides. His neck has multiple bite wounds from being picked up in the predator’s mouth and violently shaken. Mom & I didn't hear any of this as it happened, but immediately noticed that Tippy was missing so we searched for him thinking that he had just run off. It took us 10 minutes to find him as he couldn't respond to our calls.

Mom found him lying bleeding in the wooded area outside of our yard, he was alive, but in shock. We rushed him to Mt Pleasant Emergency Vet, where he is being treated for 15-20 bite puncture wounds, two fractured vertebra, and extensive lung bruising. His X-rays & wounds show where his little 14lb body was literally crushed in the jaws of a predator, but somehow he is still here looking into our eyes with HOPE & LOVE! After barely surviving this monstrous trauma, his body did not respond well to anesthesia, so his surgery wasn't able to be completed & has been partially postponed. He has been in the ICU & the vets have estimated that he will stay there the weekend. His wounds were stabilized & bandaged. He has been given IV fluids, antibiotics, Albumin, & pain meds. He has to be isolated in an oxygen cage at 60% and receive around the clock monitoring.

We are trying to get him through this 1st hurdle with his lung bruising. It is a MIRACLE that he is Alive, and all of his veterinary care team are amazed by him! We are focusing on keeping him stable to give him his best chance for recovery. We ask that you join us in prayer that he is able to pull through this, and God willing, complete his travels down the long road to recovery! Tippy’s adipose tissue & Mom's quick instincts have given him the chance to Survive & it is up to him to stay strong, survive the coming surgeries, and recover...

Initial quotes for the emergency hospitalization are heavy, we are already well over two thousand dollars in charges for his first 24 hours of emergency treatment, and we have been quoted a rough estimate of around $6000 in ICU Veterinary care through the weekend. I am asking for your help in this go-fund-me to try to afford keeping our beloved pet alive and comfortable. The expense is more than we have to spend and has exhausted our funds. We are going to do whatever we can to save this beloved member of our family. Any help you would be willing to provide, large or small, will make a HUGE difference in this tiny animal’s life. Your Positive Thoughts, Prayers, Support, & Shares are appreciated more than words can say! Any extra money collected over the cost of his medical care will be donated toward coyote attack prevention and awareness.

Thank you,
