Help us save this sweet abandoned senior dog

Hi! My name is Lexi, and I am the neighbor that took in this sweet little senior doggy whom I’m lovingly calling “Rod Stewart”. He was found in a trash bag on Roswell road in the chastain square shopping center. This sweet elderly abandoned little guy has been severely neglected. He is blind, and is skin and bones underneath a extremely matted fur. I took him to the emergency vet center (Blue Pearl) in sandy springs to check if he was microchipped and had him examined by the Veterinarians on staff there. The doctor said he is microchipped and they contacted the company that services his microchip. Come to find out this poor little guy is 14-15 years old, his owner was from Los Angeles and had recently moved to Atlanta. There was an eyewitness who saw a woman get out of a gray car with a big white trash bag and leave it in front of swoozies store at about 9 pm last night. Upon further investigation it is believed that the actual owner is the one who abandoned this sweet baby. We are trying to find out how to legally pursue her for criminal abandonment of a senior animal that obviously has health issues. The doctors checked “Rod Stewart” out and found that he has a heart murmur that will require meds and possible surgery. He has cataracts on his left eye and he might have glaucoma. He is also having eyesight issues in the right eye as well. He needs several tooth extractions as his teeth are in terrible condition. He is scheduled for a well needed grooming on 8/23 at vinings important pets. He is also being scheduled for a more in depth examination with banfield pet hospital in Buckhead petsmart where I take my pets to. He will have blood work, X-rays , cardiology referral as well as a ophthalmology work up to determine his glaucoma and cataract severeness. He has been put on a probiotic to help his digestion and stop the bloody stool. He also had a flea intervention just in case. We’re asking for the community to surround this sweet soul with compassion, prayers, and support in any way you can! We will be updating the progress of this sweet fur baby as it happens!
