For years, residents of Hinton in Hereford have been living alongside a growing colony of stray cats. Now, with support from Cats First Rescue, we're stepping in to get this colony under control, humanely and properly.

The situation has become urgent. We've already found newborn kittens and older cats suffering with cat flu, upper respiratory infections, and bacterial conjunctivitis. One male was found with his ear hanging off. Several others are limping, likely from fights or being hit by cars. We've seen cats with eye ulcers left untreated. One heavily pregnant female needed an emergency C-section — without it, she and her kittens would not have survived. And every day, we're finding more cats who need help.

This isn't just about the cats, either. Local residents have been dealing with the fallout in their own gardens for years — the noise, the fighting, the litters of kittens born with nowhere safe to go. Everyone on this street deserves relief, and every cat here deserves a chance at a healthy life.

Our plan is to trap, neuter, treat, and rehome as many of these cats as we can, while providing emergency veterinary care for those who are sick or injured right now. But rescue work isn't cheap — vet bills for emergency surgery, ongoing treatment for infections and injuries, and the everyday costs of caring for kittens too young to be neutered all add up fast, and we're stretched thin.
