Hello, my name is Brooklyn Ewing, and I am a friend, and dare I say, not by blood family member, of The Rim in Norton, WV. The Rim is a DIY Family-Run Concert Venue. Brad Smith along with his Wife Amy Smith, Daughter Rayna, and Two teenage sons Keenan and Cooper have put their blood, sweat and tears into this space.
The Facts about The Rim:
Hosted Musicians: 100 Different Artists
Guarantees Paid: Over $45,000
Shows: Over 90
Musicians: From over 20 different states and 3 other countries
The Rim provides traveling bands with a place to stay, comfort, showers, and even a delicious meal cooked by the folks attending the show. A lot of the faithful attendees bring covered dishes to help out and join the bands for dinner. It has created a cool community of rock and metal fans in small town Norton, WV. Many times bands can join Amy in the kitchen for coffee and breakfast the next morning as well. It's a full experience to help bands feel more at home when they are on long tours. It means a lot to musicians who are sometimes pinching pennies, and staying in their vans or RV's on their tours.
During Rim Rocks 2023, the two-day festival, that Brad and family put on every year, the PA System, and speakers stopped working. Brad called in favors and friends brought equipment to help get them through the weekend. Since then The Rim has been dark. Brad is currently trying to get replacements for the equipment that stopped working, so he can get back to throwing killer rock shows in the hills of Norton, WV where live entertainment is missing.
The Rim is an all ages venue where families can enjoy rock n roll, and heavy metal, together. They encourage folks to come out and see bands from all over the US and even other countries. Some bands that have played there are Bobaflex, Junkyard, TRUCKSTOP, Pageant, All or Nothing, Stolen Prayer, The Cheats, Seven Year Witch, The Rumours, Lost Hearts, Satanic Panic, Riptown Riot, The Tip, Criminal Kids, Tuk Smith, The Lonely Ones, Wildstreet, Fast Eddy, Suzi Moon, Ravagers, Shaker, Collective Insanity, Night Talkers, Poison Boys, Scattered Hamlet, The Jasons, Killer Hearts, Biters, and so many more!
The Rim is looking for enough funds to help them purchase the amps and speakers needed to get the PA System up and running again, so they can continue being a home away from home for traveling bands.
It would mean so much to this community of rock-n-rollers if folks could donate even a few bucks, to help them out. Let's get THE RIM rocking again!
