Dear friends, neighbours, and fellow animal lovers,

With heavy hearts, we’re sharing that The Pet Store at 647 Yonge Street is at risk of closing its doors. For years, our little shop has been more than just a place to buy supplies — it’s been a community hub built on kindness, wagging tails, and shared love for pets.

We’ve watched puppies take their first steps through our doors, seen rescues find their forever homes, and helped pet parents discover the right food, toy, or treat to make their companions’ days brighter. We’ve hosted local adoption events, supported small vendors and rescues, and worked hard to keep every tail wagging and every bowl full.

But the past year has been incredibly difficult. Between rising operating costs, downtown construction disruptions, and fewer foot-traffic sales, our small, independently run shop is struggling to stay afloat. Without immediate help, we may have to say goodbye to the space that so many of you have helped us build.

We’re launching this GoFundMe to raise $6, 000 to cover essential operating expenses and keep The Pet Store open while we explore long-term sustainability options — including partnerships, community initiatives, and expansion of our adoption programs.

Every dollar helps — whether it’s the cost of a bag of food, keeping the lights on, or ensuring our adoption events continue to bring love into homes across Toronto.
