My name is James Hopp and I own/operate Authorized Shopsmith Repair out of Raleigh, NC. I have worked with and repaired Shopsmith machines for 32 years. Repair shops have come and gone in the 3 decades I have been in this industry, but we have the last remaining factory-authorized repair shop in the United States.

You may or may not have heard that Shopsmith Inc. is closed indefinitely awaiting a new buyer. If a new buyer does not rise up and purchase the Shopsmith name, the company with all its assets will be liquidated and sold off for scrap.

That means factory parts will not be available and you'll have to rely on aftermarket. Your warranty will disappear and the future for Shopsmith machine owners will be unsure.

We are planning to purchase Shopsmith and completely revamp how business will be done. We want to manufacture quality parts that don't mess up on you. Shopsmith has had some badly designed parts as of late, like the belt that is exploding in headstocks causing damage, or the power supply in Power Pros that's shorting out recently. Shopsmith has had customers waiting on backorder lists for months. We want to solve this! We also want to reduce prices so you don't have to pay $5 for a set screw or zip tie.

We have the experience, the knowledge, and the passion for Shopsmith headstocks and tools, along with being avid woodworkers and Shopsmith owners just like you. But we can't do this alone.
