Over the past 24 hours, we’ve been overwhelmed by the number of people reaching out, asking how they can help and encouraging us to start a GoFundMe. Your kindness, support and belief in what we do has truly meant more than we can put into words.

So many of you have said you don’t want to see Second Chances Animal Sanctuary close… and neither do we.

For over 25 years, we have dedicated our lives to rescuing, rehabilitating and giving animals the second chance they deserve. From pound dogs on the verge of being put to sleep, neglected and abandoned farm animals to vulnerable companion animals, every life we’ve taken in has mattered. Every animal has a story — and a future we’ve fought hard to protect.

But right now, we are facing one of the hardest challenges we’ve ever encountered.

Rising costs, ongoing care needs and increasing demand for our help mean we are struggling to continue. Without support, we have to close our doors — something that would impact not only us, but all the animals who rely on us now and in the future. We help the larger, more difficult dog breeds that stay in our care longer, that cost more to feed, neuter and medically treat. These dogs do not have many other options of rescue help, without us their outlook is bleak..

Creating this fundraiser wasn’t an easy decision. Like many small sanctuaries, we’ve always just got on with things quietly. But the reality is, we can’t do this alone anymore.

Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards:

Feeding and caring for the animals

Veterinary treatment and ongoing medical needs

Maintaining safe and suitable shelter

Keeping the sanctuary running
