10 days ago, our gentle Sheltie, Rylee, suffered a horrible injury. While we are incredibly grateful that she survived an attack by two larger dogs without internal organ damage, the road to recovery has become much longer and more difficult than we ever imagined.
The Current Battle
After the initial injury, we waited a week for Rylee’s skin to be healthy enough for reconstructive surgery. We were so hopeful that the surgery would be the start of her healing, but unfortunately, the trauma was too severe. The tissue did not hold, and Rylee is now battling a infection and further skin loss.
To give her the best chance at life, Rylee now requires open wound care. She is a fighter, and her doctor believes she can recover—she just needs the time and treatment to do so.
Why We Are Asking for Help
We have done everything in our power to advocate for Rylee. We’ve pursued insurance claims and consulted with legal counsel, but unfortunately, there is no path forward for financial support or recovery from the incident.
As of today, Rylee’s medical bills have reached $11,000, and with the transition to open wound care, that cost will continues to climb some. We are committed to save her if we can, but we’ve reached a point where we cannot do it alone.
How You Can Help
Rylee has a very good chance to heal if we can afford to give her one. If you are able to donate, any amount—no matter how small—goes directly toward her veterinary treatments and supplies. If you cannot give financially, we ask for your prayers and for you to share Rylee’s story.
Thank you for loving Rylee alongside us. We will keep everyone updated on her progress as she heals.
