24 Hours to Save Poppy
Donation protected
I first met Poppy on my third date with her owner. She was small but scrappy and fiercely loyal. Originally from Puerto Rico (and originally named Linda), her owner rescued her from a shelter when she was just a puppy. Her owner made it abundantly clear how much she loved this dog. They were best friends. And I knew the only way to win her owner's heart was to win Poppy's as well.

It took a long time for Poppy to warm up to me. But after scooping hundreds of poops, waking up countless mornings at the crack of dawn to serve her eagerly-awaited breakfast, and agreeing to a very liberal "dogs allowed in the bed" policy (which she frequently abused), she approved of me.

In the past few days Poppy became very ill. She's fighting a rare bacterial infection called Leptospirosis, which can lead to organ failure and death. When the doctor gave us a 50/50 chance that treatment would save her, disregarding how much it would cost, we made the decision to do whatever we could for as long as we could.

There's a chance, after a few days of treatment, she'll recover. Unfortunately, we can only afford to pay for 24 hours of treatment, at most. This is our last chance to try and save her life. We're afraid if we cannot continue to pay the bill, we will have to put her down. She's only 2 1/2 years old.
The estimated cost of treatment is $4,000 to $8,500. We are hoping to raise at least $5,000 in the next 24 hours. Poppy means the world to her owner and her owner means the world to me. Anything will help.
Thank you.
