My name is Michelle, and I’m writing this with tears in my eyes. My little Yorkie, Pancho, is more than a dog; he is my emotional support, my family, my child, my everything. Pancho has been with me through my hardest moments. He is the one who comforts me when I am sad, who gives me strength to keep going, who literally saved my life with his love.

Right now, Pancho is fighting for his life in the hospital. He suddenly began having massive bloody diarrhea and became weak and cold. The doctors discovered that his kidneys have stopped working, he has lost a dangerous amount of blood, and he is in critical condition.

They have already started intensive treatment with IV fluids and medications. He also needs a lot of blood transfusions and dialysis to try to save his kidneys. If he survives, he must stay in the hospital for at least 3 days of intensive care just to stabilize him.

The estimated costs for his emergency care are overwhelming for me:

• Hospitalization & intensive monitoring (3 days): $2,400 – $3,600

• IV fluids: $500

• Blood transfusion: $1,500 – $1,200

• Dialysis / kidney support treatment: $2,000 – $3,000

• Medications: $300 – $600

Minimum total expected without the kidney transplant: $7,000. If further procedures are needed, the cost could go even higher.

I am doing everything I can. I’m bringing a check, but I cannot cover this alone. Pancho is my life, my emotional support dog, and I cannot lose him because of money.
