Help Us Save Our Sweet Puppy, Spock.

We're Sam and Josh Smale, and we're raising funds for our sweet baby, Spock. He is a 9-year-old German Shepherd rescue who is the best boy.

He was acting a little different this month, off and on, but nothing so out of the norm that it would cause any serious alarm. This week, things escalated quickly and we ended up taking him to the emergency vet 4 different times. At the end of all of these visits to the ER and several misdiagnoses, we learned just a couple of hours ago… he has blood surrounding his organs and a mass that is likely cancer.

That mass has caused a rupture in his intestines. Cancer aside, the blood and septic bacteria buildup has caused a serious infection that required surgery tonight—a decision that we had to make immediately. When we asked how long he would have without it, we were told that we would have had to say goodbye to him tonight. There was no other option than to try to save our sweet boy. We were completely unprepared for such devastating news. We have done what we can to make this work for him as fast as possible, but the surgery will cost at minimum $20,000—an amount we simply cannot afford at this moment on our own.

Spock is not just our sweet baby, but he is our best friend.

He is an unbelievable big brother who puts up with our sweet 2-year-old Penelope driving him nuts.

We cannot believe that this is happening this fast or at all, really... he was happy and smiling at about this time just one week ago. Right now, we're just hoping he makes it out to the other side of this and comes back home.

Anything will help. Anything. We love him so much.
