Help Us Save Our Sweet Danger Mouse ❤️
Hi everyone, and thank you for taking a moment to read our story. This is our beloved cat Danger Mouse, or “Buddy,” as we’ve called him for most of his life because he truly has been our little buddy from the day we brought him home.
We’ve had Danger Mouse for 7 years, ever since my daughter picked him out as a tiny kitten when she was four years old. She named him after her favorite cartoon at the time, and he’s lived up to the name—silly, gentle, and always glued to our side. He’s a big, fluffy 20-pound Siberian cat. He is an incredibly loving, lazy, and gentle boy. He's purring when he walks into the room and sees us.
A few days ago, we realized something was very wrong. Danger Mouse stopped eating, became lethargic, and his belly looked bloated. I took him to the vet, where they found fluid in his abdomen and immediately referred us to an emergency hospital. There, the fluid was tested and came back high in lymphocytes, which could indicate lymphoma. His bloodwork also showed abnormal heart results, and the vet recommended further urgent testing—an abdominal ultrasound and an echocardiogram with a cardiologist.
UPDATE: 12/01/25 Went for the ultrasound and fluid drainage. There was an insane amount of fluid drained. Vet says Danger Mouse has a very enlarged lymph node in his intestine...so he strongly suspects lymphoma...next step is to get referred to an oncologist for a biopsy and treatment would be chemo
The estimated costs are overwhelming, especially right before the holidays.
• Ultrasound: at least $1,000 (not including sedation)
• Oncologist: $1,000-$2,500
• Fluid drainage per week: $500
•Chemo estimate $5,000
•Medication $300
If you asked my kids whether they’d rather have Christmas presents or help their cat get better, they wouldn’t even hesitate to choose Danger Mouse. But I don’t want them to have to make that choice. Our pets are family, and we are desperate to get him the care he needs as soon as possible.
If you’re able to donate or even just share this page, it would mean the world to us. Every little bit helps us take another step toward giving our sweet boy a chance to fight this and stay with the family that loves him so much.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
❤️ Danger Mouse’s Family
