Hello & thank you for stopping by. I know it is extremely unlikely that we will reach this end goal, but we are attempting to raise money for the life-saving care of a local stray, Lark.

On 10/08, coming home from work, she came up to me with a very deep wound around the base of her tail, skin missing around a quarter in size, muscle & bone exposed at some angles. It seemed fresh & she was intent on licking it. After I went inside to get a cage, she ran off into a neighboring yard. I posted on Facebook in some local animal groups hoping for some guidance on financing for strays. This has been a particularly awful year for us as our pets have accumulated around $4065.63 in their own vet bills alone that we're working to pay back & we really could not take on this financial burden. At the same time, we couldn't in good conscience leave her to die. By the time I was able to get her an appointment at the closest vet to me, Lakewood Pet Vet, I was suggested some groups to look into as well as community fundraising. The latter seemed the better option at the time as we had already put her care on our credit. She was already showing signs of infection & needed care as soon as possible so there was not much time to make many calls.

At her appointment, we were informed she was chipped, very likely dumped here & abandoned. She's been on our street for a few years now, but her chip information last had her at an address in the city of Los Angeles in 2018. Her owner refused phone calls from the chip company. We were given paperwork of new ownership so that we could proceed with her surgery.

We set up a recovery space for her at home & she was doing great for the last week adjusting to being indoors & with a cone. She had her drains removed on 10/12 & was on track to have her sutures removed next week on 10/22. Unfortunately, the following evening, some time after midnight, she was able to remove her cone & partially reopened her wound. As of 10/14, she is home from her second set of stitches with both bills totaling $3,912.99. Truly, any amount will help us to help her.
