Help us save our home - house uninhabitable

Dear Loved Ones,

I hope you are doing well. It's not easy for me to reach out like this, but I find myself in a situation where I desperately need your support. The past few years have been a whirlwind for my husband, Israel, and me. In 2021, we were overjoyed to find our dream home and purchased it with high hopes for our future. Recognizing its potential, we embarked on the journey to add a second floor to accommodate our family.

Trusting a recommended contractor, we invested our life savings into this project, believing in his expertise and vision.

Unfortunately, this dream became a nightmare, as our contractor was later exposed as a fraud. Through a series of expert manipulations, alibis, and misdirections, he conned his way through the project. Not only is the project less than half complete, even a year past the deadline, but what is done has hidden poor craftsmanship and requires much to be redone. While we are working with an attorney, they say it could be a long time before the case goes to trial, and even then, we don't know if this fraudster will have any of our money left to collect. For now, this person has pocketed our life savings and more and left us with a broken home.

Despite support from loved ones and our own manual labor efforts to push the progress on our house, our second floor still needs to be completed. It is structurally unsound and violates county regulations, leaving our cherished home at the mercy of the elements. While we have shouldered much of the rework and labor with our own hands, both being working parents does not leave us enough time or funds for the house to survive this winter.

With the cold season upon us, the urgency to fix the most critical part of our second floor – the ceiling – has never been greater; the windows must be sealed, the insulation must be placed in the attic and part of the second floor, and the furnace and part of an electrical need to be completed before the weather gets worse. I am left with no choice but to reach out to our friends and family for financial assistance. Every penny donated will go towards rectifying this situation and making our home safe and habitable for our family.
