My name is Elizabeth, I am the sole parent of a teenage son and two wonderful dogs (Flynn and Fennec). I am here to ask for your help.

For the past several years, my family and I have faced one challenge after another—health issues, hospitalizations, surgeries, emergencies, and even being the victims of multiple violent crimes (details I am keeping private to protect my son).

Despite working three jobs (sometimes four) and preparing to start Uber Eats deliveries on my bicycle, I’ve been unable to dig us out of this financial hole. I am now facing the terrifying reality of eviction. I don’t have any close family or a real support system to lean on, and the weight of trying to keep us afloat has become completely overwhelming.

Catching up on rent would finally allow me to breathe and lift the constant fear that’s been pressing on my chest. It would give me the space to think clearly, plan for a better future, and allow my body to begin healing from the stress that’s been wearing me down.

My dogs have been a lifeline for my son and me, grounding us through our darkest moments. Knowing that they are getting the care and stability that they deserve would be the greatest gift I could imagine. One of them has a concerning growth that needs to be checked as soon as possible, and both need dental work and basic care, which in DC, is extremely expensive. Any funds above what’s needed for rent will go directly to their care, ensuring they stay healthy and safe.

My total need is about $13,500 — $10,000 to stabilize my housing and $3,500 for urgent vet care for my dogs. I’m starting with a smaller goal to help build momentum and will update it as we go.

If you’re able to help, your support would mean the world to us. I know a lot of us are in similar situations these days, and my heart and prayers go out to each and every person who is doing their best and still not able to survive. If you cannot afford to contribute monetarily, sharing our story can make a difference.

Thanks for taking the time to read our story, and for giving me hope.
