For the last 25 years since I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma from my home in Hawaii, it has been mainly for the purpose of taking care of my wife Sky. She has bravely faced Parkinson’s Disease, bipolar disorder, and, most recently, dementia. Over the years, we’ve managed as best we could, but the challenges have grown, especially in the last year.
In 2023, I developed a hole in my esophagus without realizing it, which led to a severe infection throughout my chest and body. I was incredibly lucky that an ambulance driver, who had just brought Sky home from a hospital visit, noticed I was unwell and insisted I go to the hospital. My blood pressure was dangerously high, and the emergency doctors told me I was just hours from dying. I spent over six weeks in the hospital, unable to eat or drink, and underwent five failed surgeries before my esophagus finally healed on its own. The experience left me physically and emotionally drained, and it set us back even further.
Now, we are facing the loss of our home. The funds raised here will help us pay enough to take our house off the auction block and keep a roof over our heads. Sky is currently in assisted living after a fall, and I am doing everything I can to support her and keep her safe, but it’s a full-time job and the financial strain is overwhelming. All I can do is humbly ask for help from anyone who can contribute, in any amount. I would even be willing to pay back anyone who could help as a loan. If you can’t donate, please share our story and keep Sky in your prayers. We appreciate any support and kindness. Aloha, Kev and Sky.
