Last August, I suffered a devastating 20-foot fall off a ladder while at work. I hit my head hard on the concrete floor, resulting in a massive concussion, minor brain damage, and a skull fracture. Despite the severity of my injuries, my employer refused to call an ambulance and made me drive myself to the hospital. Since then, they have continued to refuse responsibility for my medical bills, leaving me to navigate this crisis on my own. I am currently in the process of taking legal action, but the journey is long and uncertain.

As a result of my injuries, my medical costs have skyrocketed. Bills have gone into collections, and I’ve struggled to hold down a job due to intermittent blackouts, constant doctor appointments, and therapy sessions. The most pressing issue now is that I’ve fallen behind on property taxes, and my mother and I are facing the terrifying prospect of losing our home to a tax auction.
