Hi i’m Jess, we came back off holiday to our fur baby having gone blind, we rushed her straight to the emergency vets and they checked the pressure in her eyes. Normal pressure is 20 or below and 25 is bad but minnie’s right eye was measuring at 98 and left at 86, they kept her in and gave medication but unfortunately the medication for the pressure didn’t really help. Originally we were told to maybe refer her but then when we went into the vets they said they wouldn’t refer as they know what the issue is and she probably needs her eyes removed but to try medication for a week then go back.

Shes had lots of ups and downs over the week and yesterday she seemed a bit better but we took her to her appointment and they tested the pressure again and said unfortunately the medication is not working and it was either refer her but as the pressure is so high they were unsure if there’s anything they could do or put her to sleep.

we have been absolutely devastated didn’t know what to do. We did ask about the operation to remove the eyes like they originally said but the vet said it wasn’t an option now.

We did speak about the referral costs but works out it would be 10k or above but still might not be able to anything.

We came home to talk and give her lots of cuddles n speak to the kids who have been in bits too.

We then went back to the vets and had a second opinion and the vet we saw said he would do the operation as it would remove her pain.

We then chose this option as we don’t want to lose her and many people have said how well dogs adjust.

Surgery went well and she’s back home with us!! but she’s going to need lots more appointments

ive had lots of people asking me to set up a go fund me as they would love to help, i don’t expect anything at all but if you would like to donate we would really appreciate as so far i’ve paid just under 4k

Im currently on maternity leave so i haven’t had this money to just put my hand to so i’ve had to use a credit card to cover it which is now adding even more stress knowing i’ve got to pay this and much more.
