Help Us Save Our Family Home

Hello, my name is LaMont. I’m a 32-year-old independent artist, father, and community creative based in Chicago. I’m reaching out with deep humility to ask for your help in saving the home my partner and I have worked so hard to build for our family.

In the summer of 2021, after years of dreaming and saving, my partner and I bought our first home together. It’s where we’ve been raising our two children — a space filled with love, memories, music, and laughter.

But over the past year, life hit us harder than we could’ve imagined. After the passing of my grandmother last January, I lost my job. Since then, I’ve been doing everything I can — picking up temp gigs, working as a freelance videographer and marketing creative, and helping local artists and podcasters tell their stories. Still, it hasn’t been enough.

We’ve fallen behind on our property taxes and some critical bills. If we can’t raise $15,000–$20,000 within the next 8 months, we’re at serious risk of losing our home.

This home is more than a roof over our heads. It’s our sanctuary. It’s the foundation my children are growing up on. And we’re terrified of the possibility of becoming unhoused after everything we’ve worked for.

The funds raised will go directly toward:

• Paying off back property taxes

• Catching up on delinquent utilities and essential bills
