Help Us Save Our 275 yr old Home and Rebuild Our Dream
Donation protected
We’re a first-generation immigrant family of seven — myself, my husband, our four children, and my elderly mother — working to save our 275-year-old farmhouse, one of the oldest in White Township, from devastating structural failure. What was meant to be the heart of our homestead and future farmstand has become an urgent safety crisis.
As first-time homeowners from immigrant families, we trusted the system. But we were misled and sold a home hiding dangerous issues.
In January, a large section of our daughters’ bedroom ceiling collapsed — right onto the bed where our youngest usually naps. By the grace of God, she wasn’t in the room. That terrifying moment forced us to face the truth: our home was not safe.
Our insurance offered only a small payout — barely enough to patch the ceiling, let alone fix the real issue: a heavy slate roof installed in 2018 over old shingles, resting on 275-year-old beams weakened by years of water damage. A roof that was promised to last "50–100 years" is now threatening the entire structure.
A licensed contractor confirmed our fears: the roof is just the beginning. We’ve already invested over $50,000 in essential repairs, but urgent work remains — replacing the unsafe roof, stabilizing the center of the house, repairing the cracked foundation, rewiring storm-damaged electrical, and rebuilding a sagging bedroom floor.
We’ve explored loans and legal action, but were denied help due to debt from trying to stay afloat. Legal resolution could take years — time we don’t have when our family’s safety is at risk.
These aren’t cosmetic updates — they’re necessary to keep our family safe and to prevent this historic home from being lost forever.
Now we’re humbly asking for help — to save our home, protect our children, and one day return to the dream we came here chasing.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, or supporting us in any way you can.
