Help Save Nugget, our liver dalmatian in critical condition

Donation protected

Nugget is our liver dalmatian, we always say she is the one that holds our family together. If you know Nugget, you know that she is a true Princess, she is so well behaved and gives the sweetest kisses. I never trained her when i got her as a puppy, she potty trained on her own, she also knows how to verbally speak the words 'ride' and 'walk'. She is a protector of our twin girls Tylin and Taylee and Nugget is the best smiler, she shows all of her teeth. On August 28th, I took Nugget to our Primary Vet for her to have her teeth cleaned, a procedure that requires a dog to be sedated. Before sedation, our vet checked Nugget's blood levels and they were all completely normal. Nuggy just turned 7 years old in July. Nugget came home with Vetprofin and was acting perfectly normal. 3 days later, Nugget was skittish to eat her food and began vomiting everything she tried to eat. We called the vet to schedule an appointment and I noticed Nuggets gums were discolored. Friday, Sept. 6th, we took Nugget back to the vet and she was completely jaundiced and her liver levels, blood pressure, blood sugar, basically all of her bloodwork was extremely low. We rushed Nugget to the ER and we were told she was in critical condition. Nugget is now on a feeding tube and requiring support to live. The doctors tested her for many things, they told us it was extremely rare but they wanted to test her for a disease called Addison's Disease and shockingly the results came back positive, Addison's Disease effects less than 1% of the canine population. Because they were able to identify what is wrong with her, she is now being treated accordingly and internal medicine is taking over her case. She will require hospitalization until the doctors are able to revive her and start to see normal blood levels. Nugget will require medication for the rest of her life, but with treatment, a dog with this disease can live a normal life. It is costing us approximately $4,000 per day for Nugget's hospitalization. For those of you that know me, know that I will sell everything I own in order to save my sweet girl, I pray it doesn't come to that. Female dalmatians typically live to be between 12-14 years old, she just turned 7 and deserves to have a chance to come home. This happened very fast and was unexpected and has crushed our family. This dog was never a 'dog' to us, she is our family and our comfort. My twin daughters are 3 years old and keep asking me why Nugget isn't home from the doctor yet. Any help that we can get, even $1 will help save our Nuggy and get her the treatment she needs to rejuvenate her organs. This is more than a fundraiser, I write this to bring awareness to all dog owners, PLEASE have your dog's bloodwork tested and if they are having problems with their appetite or nausea, an abdominal ultrasound could save their life. Nugget is currently stable and being housed at an emergency vet center in Richmond, I'm asking for your love and support to help bring her back home to us. I could never live with myself knowing that I didn't do everything I possibly could to save her.
