HELP US SAVE MONA!

As many of you know in September we lost our 14-year-old Chihuahua and best friend Jade to heart failure which completely broke us. After finally feeling ready to open our hearts and home to another dog we found Mona. Mona is everything we could have wanted in a puppy. She’s lovable smart silly and the sweetest baby chihuahua I’ve ever met. Pretty much everything seemed perfect and after a horrible heartbreaking year we got our silver lining.

Last week we went for what was supposed to be a normal puppy shot appointment but this visit quickly turned into a nightmare. Our vet told us that Mona has a heart murmur. We were beyond devasted to hear this because we just lost Jade to the exact same thing. He told us to make an appointment with a cardiologist so we can know for sure what is causing the murmur. Thursday we went for her appointment and we found out she has what is called a PDA. It’s pretty much a birth defect that causes the heart to have an extra valve and it’s something that is very common in small breeds but very deadly. The good news is with surgery it’s 100% curable and after the surgery Mona will be able to live a full happy normal life. The bad news is if we don’t do this surgery Mona will die before she even turns 1 years old.

Mona may have only been with us for 3 weeks but she has completely stolen our hearts so we are of course going to go through with it. We love Mona and she loves us and we are not going to give up on her. I’ve been so upset wondering why the universe would do this to us after we’ve already had so much pain last year with Jade. But I know if Mona went home with anyone else they would most likely send her back to a breeder that would euthanize her. She was meant to be with us because we will fight for her! We will make sure she gets the life she deserves! This little girl hasn't even been outside, touched grass, or gone for walk. There's so much life for her to live and we will do everything we can to give her a fighting chance to do so.

The surgery is not cheap it will cost around $5,000-$6,000. And after the financial burden of treating Jade through her heart condition it's going to be extremely tough for us to be able to afford this surgery all on our own. Which is why we are asking for help to put towards her surgery. Any donations no matter the amount are appreciated and anything helps.
