This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to write. Our sweet boy, Marshmallow, needs life-saving surgery — and we’re desperate to give him the chance he deserves.

Marshmallow isn’t “just a dog.” He’s family. He’s our heartbeat, our comfort, and the bright light that’s carried us through some of the darkest days of our lives. When my husband’s kidneys began to fail and he started dialysis, Marshmallow was there — always. He never left our side. He’d curl up next to my husband during long, exhausting treatments and seemed to know exactly when we needed love most.

Now it’s his turn to be cared for. Marshmallow has Hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that causes internal masses. His vet says he needs surgery to remove the mass as soon as possible. Without it, our time with him will be heartbreakingly short.

Marshmallow is 11 years old, but he still greets every morning with that same gentle spirit and wagging tail. He still wants to go on short walks, still perks up when he hears our voices, still gives us the kind of love that words could never truly capture. He’s not ready to say goodbye — and neither are we.

The cost of his surgery and follow-up care is more than we can afford right now, especially with ongoing medical expenses for my husband’s dialysis. We never imagined we’d have to ask for help, but we’ll do anything to give Marshmallow more time — more belly rubs, more cuddles, more moments where we can just hold him and tell him how loved he is.
