Help us save Logan, our brave kitten fighting distemper

Donation protected
In early April, we lost our 10 year old cat, Venom, to cancer. Our home felt like a giant hole was missing from our lives. Last week Venom sent us a sign to adopt Mystique and her brother Logan from a local shelter and we were over joyed to bring home two of the sweetest kittens ever.

Unfortunately just three days later Logan started to show signs of decline, he wasn't eating much and grew more lethargic. We took Logan to the vet and came up with a care plan to try to get him back to his energetic self. That appointment cost $349 for the exam, tests, recovery food, and medication. I hand fed him that evening and through the night but Logan still didn't want to eat on his own.

At this point the Vet recommended hospitalization, so we drove him up to Ithaca where he underwent more testing, and was eventually diagnosed with distemper. Luckily we caught it sooner rather than later but the vet said he will need intense intervention and hospitalization for at least 3-4 days. The estimate for this is at minimum $4,296.35.

On top of this his sister Mystique is still at risk of catching it so we went out and bought all new water bowls, litter, and cleaning supplies.

Logan is still stable, but not out of the woods yet. Luckily, there are some improvements that bring us hope. First off by catching it when we did he still has a solid chance of recovering and he is a fighter. He has been alert and has energy to cry and demand all the love from his caretakers. On top of this he took some tiny nibbles of food and has gained .2 pounds.

He is taking anti nausea medication, is getting B vitamins along with his IV fluids and this morning they started him on aggressive antibiotics. Since he still isn't eating well on his own, they are putting a tube into his stomach to help his GI tract and keep food consistently in his system. This feeding tube however will cost an extra $500 just for the first 24 hours.

We understand that things are tough for everyone right now, but truly any bit helps. Logan is only 2 months old but he gives everyone he meets all the love he has to offer. He is a BIG snuggler, likes to play with his twin sister, and has the biggest heart. If you can please donate, and share this fund so we can get our son the care he deserves.

Thank you for everyone's love and continued support. As we get updates we will update you all.
